Kiwi was recused with 10 other horses from a terrible situation. She and her herd were extremely underweight and had little to no food or clean water available to them. Two of the horses including her mother Mango unfortunately did not survive. Mango was extremely thin when she was rescued and had no milk to support Kiwi. Mango passed away at the vet clinic shortly after they were rescued.
Kiwi has bonded quickly with the ranch staff and is now a very healthy, friendly and happy filly. Ranch staff originally had to teach her how to eat her milk replacement pellets and grain. She eats very well on her own now. She is very energetic and fun loving. She enjoys playing with her friends in the pasture. Kiwi's best friend is Daffodil, a miniature mare who was rescued with her.
